Recreation Leader at Skänninge Youth Center

The Culture and Leisure Administration is one of Mjölby Municipality's six administrations. With approximately 240 employees, we create opportunities for the municipality's visitors and residents to experience and participate in a diverse leisure and cultural life. We run activities ourselves and provide support to cultural and leisure activities run by non-profit associations, study associations, organizations, and other actors. The administration includes libraries, swimming facilities, cultural schools, youth centers, and other cultural and leisure activities.

Skänninge Youth Center is located in Trojenborg School, in the heart of Skänninge with beautiful outdoor environments. We work with school cooperation at nearby schools, 10-12 year activities, and open youth activities. Our team consists of 7 recreation leaders who work together to offer a varied and meaningful leisure time for our youth in Skänninge. Skänninge Youth Center is one of three youth centers in Mjölby Municipality. These three centers collaborate on overarching issues and joint events. Working together at all levels is important, and we see it as necessary to develop our work with children and youth.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a recreation leader, you will develop the youth center's activities together with colleagues, the activity coordinator, and the unit manager, in accordance with applicable assignments and governing documents. In your role, it is important to understand and take clear employee responsibility, with a holistic view of our entire operation.

In your work, you will have continuous contact with young people and various stakeholders, which practically means that you will coach and build relationships with, for example, schools, guardians, and other community actors. Collaboration with schools in the area is prioritized, and it is important that you offer our children and youth as varied, rich in content, developing, meaningful, and fun leisure activities as possible. As a recreation leader, you will work days, evenings, and weekends according to a schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a 2-year recreation leader education or education that the employer assesses as equivalent. A valid B driver's license is required.

You have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. We see it as meritorious if you have experience working with participation and democracy initiatives with young people, and you have experience planning, leading, and developing activities, both individually and in groups. Your ability to work both independently and collaboratively, make quick and clear decisions is strong. You also have a good initiative.

You have an interest and willingness to work with other people; to listen, show empathy, and respect. You are unpretentious and recognize and reward the contributions of others.

You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions.

Our society is changing, and we see that you can adapt to changing conditions. You encourage and support change initiatives. You easily adjust your behavior in relation to the needs of others.

You have the ability to perform in different environments and handle difficult situations. You remain optimistic in the face of challenges and have the ability to accept and develop.
